Reaching our Community
The people of FBC Garland live in a community with many needs. Those needs present opportunities to love our neighbors but also to tell the story of Jesus. The ministries listed below touch many people in our area. If you are seeking a chance to make a difference, take a look at the ministries below. If you have questions, contact the Missions office at FBC at (972) 276-7194 ext 288 (Teresa) or ext 233 (Jim) or email [email protected] or [email protected]
Friendship House
Friendship House is FBC Garland's longest tenured outreach to our community. Designed to help those in need in Garland, Rowlett and Sachse, Friendship House has been touching lives in Christ's name for 40 years. To learn more about Friendship House, Click here.
Hope Clinic
Hope offers primary medical care at no cost for people who live in Garland who have neither public nor private health insurance. A key component of the ministry of Hope is the spiritual care provided for any patient who desires it. Started at FBC Garland in 2001, it is now a community organization, supported by many churches (including us) and individuals in our community. To find out more about Hope Clinic, Click here.
Public School Initiative
In 2016 we began our public school initiative by working in one school in GISD. Since then we have expanded to 3 other schools. In some of the schools we tutor and/or read to children. In all of them, we work to support and encourage teachers and staff. We are convinced that if we build up with the love of Jesus the people who are with the children day in and day out, both students and staff benefit.
Mayberry Gardens
Mayberry Gardens is an assisted living facility in north Garland where we hold worship services and Bible studies for residents on a weekly basis. Since the opening of Mayberry's Garland campus, we have been involved with the residents and staff of Mayberry.
Involved for Life
Involved for Life is a biblical response to abortion, offering women and their partners support, education, and resources so they may make life-affirming choices. FBC Garland's annual Celebration of Life benefits Involved for Life. To find out more, Click here.
Refugee Team
Dallas is one of the leading destinations for refugees to the United States. Our Welcome Team, working through For The Nations (FTN), a Christian non-profit serving refugees, welcomes new families into our area by setting up their apartment, providing meals and helping them get oriented to their new home.
Christmas on the Square
The Thursday after Thanksgiving, a team from our church sets up a large booth at Christmas on the Square, the city of Garland's annual Christmas event in downtown Garland. From our booth, children can watch a balloon animal created just for them. Volunteers mix with adults in the crowd around the booth sharing information about the church and, as possible, engaging in conversations about the Faith. (Because of city construction, this event is on hold at this time.)
