Who We Are

First Baptist Church began in 1868 as Antioch Baptist Church. Though our faces and buildings have changed since those early days, First Baptist's mission to reach the community for Christ has not. We believe the Bible to be our manual, and Christ to be our example.

Each Sunday we worship in Traditional, Contemporary/Blended styles (as well as in a Spanish-language service). We offer varied Bible Study classes designed for all ages and interests. We believe it is important to begin teaching the Bible and showing the love of Christ even to the youngest of our church family -- the Newborns and Preschoolers. We also have vital Children's and Student ministries that teach the Bible in fun, innovative ways, challenging kids to make a lifelong commitment to serving the Lord and reaching out to our community.

On Wednesdays, we offer a variety of activities for all ages as well. We have an Adult Sanctuary Choir, Children's Choirs, Youth Discipleship Training, Fellowship Supper, and Bible Study/Prayer Time for adults.

We're saving a seat for you. Won't you join us?

Getting Connected

We strive to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and at home in their quest to draw closer to God.

We encourage every guest and prospective church member to take the following steps as they seek to learn more about our church, its ministries, and opportunities for service. Most people discover the church through the “front door” of our Sunday morning worship services. These are a great way to join others in worship and praise of the Lord Jesus Christ. We also encourage everyone to find one of our small group Bible studies (Sunday School) to learn more about the Bible, find new friends, and enjoy an environment of genuine care, acceptance, and love in the company of others.

Making a decision about a church home for you and your family is an important one. We want to help and support you in this process. When the time comes to learn more about the church, we encourage you to attend one of our Dinner With the Pastor meetings. These Sunday night gatherings allow you to meet Pastor Greg in a small group setting, ask questions about the church, and hear more details about the church’s ministries, practices, and beliefs

Dinner with the Pastor

After attending Dinner With the Pastoryou may or may not be ready to make a membership decision. During this continued time of decision-making, we encourage you to continue attending worship services, find a Sunday School class, and enjoy any of the FBCG ministries which appeal to you. To make reservations (required) for the next Dinner With the Pastor, please contact Shannon Fears.

If you decide to join our fellowship as a member, we encourage another step along the Get Connected path. We ask all of our adult new members to attend the regularly scheduled New Member OrientationWhether you are a new Christian believer or a seasoned saint, regardless of your prior church background, we ask that you come to this important class.

The Orientation class differs from Dinner With the Pastorso you will need to attend both meetings (one before you join and one after you join). A family lunch meal is served for the Orientation meeting. To make reservations (required) for the next New Member Orientation, please contact Kelly Johnson.

We are delighted that God has led you to attend FBC Garland and consider membership in our fellowship. We believe you are not here by chance, but that God has led you here for a purpose. For that reason, we offer this process for informing and orienting you to our church, its ministries, beliefs, and practices. We pray that God will bless you and draw you closer to Himself as you seek Him and His direction.
